This coming year CUBES aims to enrich the experience of Building Engineering students at Concordia by offering the students opportunities outside of the classroom to explore industry, academia, as well as the resources available to them at Concordia.  Students will be made aware of events and activities by not only the standard means of advertising (website, email & posters) but also by CUBES representatives in the classrooms of Building Engineering courses for monthly updates and to help encourage participation.

Social activities held throughout the year include the ever famous bi-annual Lizard Lounge at Reggie’s Pub, a wine and cheese party with faculty, and the annual Holiday Dinner in November.  Academic initiatives include guest lecturers who will be invited to give talks on topics within the realm of Building Engineering, and also to introduce those who are interested to the Building Engineering related research that Concordia University is  involved in.  Exploring the industry includes providing construction safety courses, giving demonstrations of equipment used in the field, and attending industry events such as dinner lectures hosted by ASHRAE and the CONTECH trade show.  CUBES would also like to explore the CaGBC’s LEED green building rating program and to help interested students become LEED accredited.
